Canadians lit up twitter on Friday, reacting to news that Bobby Orr was endorsing U.S. President Donald Trump in his bid for re-election next week.
The Canadian hockey legend, Orr became the latest in a string of high-profile sports legends backing the 45th President.
Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre also endorsed Trump on Friday. A day earlier, golf icon Jack Nicklaus stepped up to back Trump’s campaign.
“This is not a personality contest,” Nicklaus said. “It’s about patriotism, policies and the people they impact.”
Orr’s endorsement appeared in a full-page ad in the New Hampshire Union Leader.
“The attacks on our president have been unrelenting since the day he took office,” Orr stated in his ad. “Despite that, President Trump has delivered for all the American people, regardless of race, gender or station in life.
“That’s the kind of teammate I want.”
In typical liberal fashion, Twitter exploded with comments calling for the Canadian sports legend to be cancelled for having a different view on the world.
My son has a "flying through the air" personally autographed picture. Into the shredder it goes. ?
